Bio
Satoshi Nakamoto is the name used by the author of the Bitcoin white paper and the original Bitcoin software. The paper was announced on the Cryptography Mailing List on Oct 31, 2008.[1][2]
The paper cites earlier work including Wei Dai's b-money and Adam Back's Hashcash, and Satoshi later described Bitcoin as an implementation of b-money and Nick Szabo's Bitgold proposal.[3][6]
Satoshi mined the genesis block on Jan 3, 2009 and sent the first person-to-person transaction to Hal Finney in block 170. Satoshi was active in development until December 2010 and wrote in a 2011 email that they had “moved on to other things.” Who Satoshi is remains unknown, and this site does not speculate.[4][5][1]
